Trend Alert: Into the Beige

From fashion magazines like Elle Decor and Harpers Bazaar to designer runways and A-list celebrities the colour trend for neutral and beige shades are making a big appearance lately. The colour beige can conjure up feelings of bland corporate spaces and business atire and is often overlooked in both fashion and home decor in favour of vivid and bright colour palettes. But we say if you dismiss neutrals and beige shades then you are missing out on the endless possibilites it can bring to a room design. 'Boring' neutrals don't have to be so boring when you combine with a variety of layers and textures.

The neutral colour palette varies from nearly brown to very pale cream. It can have warm yellow or pink undertones or be nearly gray. Shades of cream, tan, off-white, beige and earthy tones can combine to alter the entire mood of a room creating a classic and serene setting.

According to Houzz Contributor Samantha Schoech "Layering beiges creates a soft, calming look; it makes you feel like you're walking into a room made of cashmere. And all beige tones, no matter how light or dark, work with bright white trim; nothing looks crisper or more traditional than this combo"

We have always been a fan of a neutral colour palette, it is elegant and less predictable then white, subtle and chic, looks crisp and clean and can be both minimalist and modern rolled into one. So at Kush we're raising our glasses to all that neutral shades has to offer-hooray!
