Inspired by: Flower Shower

At Kush we have taken on a fight against mother nature! To combat the winter blues we have embraced our love of all things floral. The trend for flowers can be traced as far back as 2,500BC in ancient Egypt when locals adorned themselves in flowers and it seems we've been decorating ourselves and our homes in floral prints ever since.

Season after season, this trend is always a perennial favourite. There is so much scope when using this iconic pattern in the home; it can be romantic, chic or quirky depending on the scale and size of the print and the colours used.

Big, bold florals on anything from wallpaper and rugs is such an amazing way to bring warmth and happiness into your home....But if you are not quite ready to embrace floral home decor in such a full bloom type of way, we suggest using subtle accents of florals throughout the home. Cushions are a great way to try out a trend without taking a lot of commitment. This season’s florals come in soft pastel colours, vibrant hues and making a feature is a variation of the garden  botanical theme

Remember!!!  Florals are all about having fun with fashion and the home and embracing the joy of romance. Perhaps this is why the flower power trend is one that just won’t go away, season after season (Hooray to that!). So kick back in the cold, embrace this beautiful and inspiring shower of flowers and winter will fly by in no time!

Kush Edited: Be Bold with Black & White

Easily the biggest trend of any season, the classic pairing of black and white is an oldie but a goodie. The dramatic colour combination has been a huge hit in home decor since the Art Deco design movement and we certainly can see why!

For starters, there's an endless amount of possibilities to personalise the monochrome look, from keeping it simple with solid seperates à la color-blocking, or experimenting with patterns, prints and texture.

Scrolling through the blogesphere for inspiration, here are some of our favourite looks that would be easy to achieve at home.

Black and white can bring so much to a room, the simplistic colours can be modern and contemporary, create a wow factor when used in an unexpected way such as the door above or can be glamorous and romantic depending on the texture it is used in.

We love the use of black and white in the patterns on the cushions below and the unexpected colour pop of yellow and white polka dots really adds warmth  and a new dimension of texture to the room. Try adding shades of grey for a softened and more homely black and white feel.

Whether your style is dramtic and bold or demure and chic, this monochrome look will fit into any home decor scheme!

Trend Alert: In Living Colour

Although it is coming into the colder winter months, colour is massive this season. The weather outside might be dreary but your decor inside can remain cheery! And while it can be tempting to follow a neutral colour palette, vibrant shades can really enliven and add an element of surprise to living areas.

Effortlessly create pops of colour by adding a bright throw or patterned cushion which will ensure your spaces don't look as stark and cold as the elements outside your window!

Kush Crush: The Met Ball

Some of the world's biggest stars were out in force in New York last Monday to celebrate the annual Met Ball. The theme of Punk: Chaos to Couture was based on examining punk’s impact on high fashion from the movement’s birth in the 1970s through its continuing influence today.

Fashion Stars that hit the red carpet included Jennifer Lawrence, Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Wilde Kristen Stewart, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Richie and Beyonce to name a few! Some embraced the Punk theme from head to toe, others simply referenced the theme with elements of studs, spikes, leather and safety pins aplenty in their outfits while a few starlets did their very best to ignore the Punk aspect completely (Gwyneth Paltrow, we're looking at you!)

We've wittled down our eight favourite looks from the night including Kush favourite Sarah Jessica Parker and Sienna Miller for their fearless fashion choices and model of the moment Cara Delevingne who punked it up studs and a plunging neckline.

And just for fun we've added in four of our 'Oh No! What were they thinking???' outift choices! Yikes!
